Lawson Place Apartments

In January 2022, the Village of Yellow Springs purchased 10-12 Lawson Place to preserve and develop affordable housing. While the Village owns and operates the apartments, they are not considered Public Housing, though Section 8 vouchers are accepted.

Due to high demand and limited availability, the Village uses a lottery system to select renters. When a unit becomes available, the Village will publish the vacancy details, and interested individuals can submit their contact information by the deadline. A random number generator will select an applicant, who will then begin the pre-application process. If the selected person doesn’t qualify or cannot move in, another name will be chosen.

Applicants must complete a pre-application screening, a rental application via RentRedi, pay the application fee, and consent to a background check (including rental history, criminal history, credit report, and income verification). Successful applicants will have an income of at least three times the monthly rent of $742.63,
or a qualifying co-signer may be added.
