Handle With Care
Handle With Care is a trauma-informed, collaborative program designed to support children who have experienced adverse or traumatic events.

Through partnerships between first responders, schools, and community organizations, the program helps ensure children receive appropriate support while creating safe, supportive environments where they can heal and build resilience.
     
Blue Envelope Program
The Yellow Springs Police Department participates in the nationwide Blue Envelope Program, an initiative designed to support safer, more comfortable interactions between law enforcement and drivers with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

The program uses a recognizable blue envelope to help communicate important information during traffic stops or field interactions. The envelope provides officers with helpful communication guidance while allowing drivers to keep important documents organized and easily accessible.

      
     
Drug Take Back
The Yellow Springs Police Department provides a prescription drug drop box for the safe disposal of unused or expired medications.

The drop box is available year-round in the lobby of the John Bryan Community Center Police Department.

Accepted items:
• Prescription medications
• Unused or expired pharmaceuticals

The drop box does not accept:
• Syringes
• Inhalers
• Lotions, liquids, or creams/ointments
     
SafeKEYping Program
The SafeKEYping Program is a free community service offered by the Yellow Springs Police Department. Residents may provide a spare key to their home, which is securely stored by the Police Department for emergency use.

The program may assist residents who:
• Accidentally lock themselves out of their home
• Need emergency access due to a medical or safety concern

Keys are stored securely and are only accessed when requested by the resident or when an emergency situation requires immediate entry.
