Catherine Roma submitted this poster inspired by a favorite song "Bread and Roses." In 1917 Caroline Kohlstaat set a poem to music by James Oppenheim (1911) about fair wages and decent working conditions. The song was sung on many-a-picket-line for women's justice and labor issues. "No more the drudge and idler, 10 that toil where one reposes, but a sharing of life's glories, bread and roses, bread and roses." The United Nations proclaimed 1975 as International Women’s Year.
