This poster was one of the five winning designs for the official posters of the Women’s March on Washington which took place on January 21, 2017. “Respect my existence or expect resistance” submitted by Catherine Roma. The march drew over 470,000 people and approximately 1.0 to 1.6 percent of the U.S. population participated that day in a march in a city throughout the US. Worldwide participation has been estimated at over seven million. At least 408 marches were reported to have been planned in the U.S. and 168 in 81 other countries. The crowds were peaceful: no arrests were made in D.C., Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, or Seattle, where a combined total of about two million people marched.
