Village of Yellow Springs, Ohio

The Yellow Springs Police Department, in conjunction with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, continues to investigate the tragic homicide that occurred on January 10, 2025. We understand the community’s concern and want to provide an update regarding the ongoing case.
  
On January 15, 2025, a grand jury returned an indictment in connection with this investigation. The individual charged in this case, Frederick Dane Muenchau-Peterson, is facing the following counts:
  
Count 1 - Murder
Count 2 - Felonious Assault
Count 3 - Murder
Count 4 - Improperly Discharging a Firearm at or into a Habitation
Count 5 - Tampering with Evidence
  
The investigation remains active, and YSPD — alongside other law enforcement agencies and BCI — is dedicated to ensuring that justice is served. We will continue to provide updates as appropriate and encourage the public to remain vigilant while respecting the privacy of those affected by this tragedy.
