Steve McQueen II
TERM: 1/2026 - 12/2029 Steve McQueen moved to Yellow Springs in 2002 as a prospective student at Antioch College and quickly developed a strong connection to the Village. He describes Yellow Springs as a community that has consistently encouraged him to grow and that values his unique perspective and skill set. Steve views civic engagement as his professional focus and has dedicated much of his time to local service and community involvement. He currently serves as Vice Chair of the 365 Project of Yellow Springs (2014–present), a Member of the Greene County Career Center Board of Directors (2019–present), and Community Voices Producer with 91.3 WYSO Public Radio for the Miami Valley (2015–present). His prior service includes the Home Inc Board (2016–2026), StoryChain of Yellow Springs (2025), Greene County Democratic Party Precinct Captain (2022–2024), Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley Radio Reading Service (2017–2022), YS Development Corporation (2018–2021), Yellow Springs School Board (2018–2021), Economic Sustainability Commission (2018–2020), Yellow Springs Heritage Board (2016–2018), and Human Relations Commission (2014–2018). He attended Antioch College and Wilberforce University, studying history and organizational management. In his free time, Steve enjoys animation, science fiction, graphic novels, video games, and spending time with others.

The Mayor of the Village of Yellow Springs serves in ceremonial and judicial roles. An elected position, the Mayor represents the Village at public events, ceremonies, and community functions, helping to celebrate and promote the character and values of Yellow Springs.
The Mayor also presides over the Yellow Springs Mayor’s Court, which hears traffic cases and minor offenses. In this role, the Mayor is responsible for ensuring that cases are handled fairly and in accordance with the law.

MacKenzie Baird
MacKenzie Baird joined the Village of Yellow Springs in May 2021 and serves as Mayor’s Clerk. In this role, she is Clerk of Court for the Yellow Springs Mayor’s Court and oversees the traffic violations bureau. MacKenzie brings a diverse background in public service and administration, including five years with the United States Postal Service and experience as a Lead Graphic Designer at a local print shop. A commissioned notary public, she developed a strong interest in legal and administrative work. She also serves as Executive Assistant for the Wright State University chapter of the American Association of University Professors / American Federation of Teachers. MacKenzie is a Certified Clerk of Court through the Association of Mayor’s Court Clerks of Ohio and holds an Associate of Applied Science in Visual Communications from Sinclair Community College. She especially enjoys assisting couples with scheduling wedding ceremonies and helping them begin a new chapter through the Yellow Springs Mayor’s Court.
The Clerk of the Mayor’s Court serves as the administrative officer for the Village of Yellow Springs Mayor’s Court. In this role, the Clerk oversees the traffic violations bureau, including processing citations, maintaining court records, and managing case scheduling and payments. The Clerk also provides customer service support to residents navigating the court process and ensures accurate recordkeeping and compliance with court procedures. Additionally, the Clerk supports the administration of civil marriage services performed by the Mayor.
