Village Mediation Program
For more than 30 years, the Village Mediation Program (VMP) has helped Yellow Springs residents resolve conflicts through guided communication and enabling participants to work towards collaboration and mutual understanding. As a community service fully funded by the Village of Yellow Springs, VMP provides a confidential, voluntary alternative to dispute resolution.
Whether you are experiencing disagreement or tension with a neighbor, family member, coworker, landlord, or another member of the community, mediation offers a safe and neutral environment where all parties can be helped to understand one another and work together toward mutually acceptable solutions.
Why Choose Mediation?
Mediation is designed to help people resolve conflicts constructively while preserving relationships whenever possible. Benefits of VMP include:
- Confidential and impartial facilitation
- Voluntary participation
- Collaborative problem-solving
- Binding mutual resolutions
- Free for Yellow Springs residents
How It Works
Requesting mediation is simple. Individuals or groups experiencing conflict can contact VMP to discuss their situation and determine whether mediation is appropriate.
Sessions are facilitated by a trained mediator who supports productive conversation in a respectful and confidential setting. While mediation does not always result in immediate resolution, it provides participants with the opportunity to improve communication, better understand one another’s perspectives, and work toward lasting solutions.
