Each year, the Village of Yellow Springs partners with Shred-it® to host a free Community Shred Event, providing residents with a safe and secure way to dispose of sensitive paper documents. Professional shredding helps protect against identity theft while ensuring confidential information is destroyed on-site. The event is open to the community and is an easy way to responsibly dispose of old personal records, financial documents, medical paperwork, tax records, and other confidential paper materials.
Accepted Items
The following paper items are accepted for shredding:
• Envelopes and file folders
• Tax documents
• Bank statements
• Medical records
• Business documents
• Receipts and other confidential paperwork
Items Not Accepted
The following items cannot be accepted:
• Electronics (including hard drives, laptops, CDs, and other electronic media)• Batteries
• Office supplies such as binders, toner cartridges, and staplers
• Plastic materials
• Syringes or other medical sharps
• Any non-paper materials
